ABORTION STATS & INFO

Updated, truthful and/or comprehensive Abortion statistics (local, regional state and national levels) are not always easy to find. However, we do offer to you here what information is available to us about abortion in the San Antonio region, which clearly shows this barbaric procedure is a prime killer of innocent, pre-born babies in our community. Those numbers, in turn, prove how important it is to support Allied Women's Center's pro-life mission of saving babies from abortion, and transforming the lives of their mothers and family members.

Black lives matter. As we address racism, we must talk about the unborn ones, too

Abortion's Impact on Minorities

San Antonio Area / Bexar County

According to 2011 census estimates, San Antonio (Bexar County) is the 3rd largest metro area in Texas, making up approximately 8.1% of the state’s population. Unfortunately, in 2008, abortions in Bexar County comprised more than 11.5% of the state’s total.

Looking at 2008 information, records show there were 7,313 abortions performed in Bexar County, which shamefully took the #3 spot ~ out of all 254 Texas counties ~ on the list tallying abortion deaths by county. These stats mean that, on average, about about 20 lives every day were ended by abortion.  And that's just the deaths that are recorded....Women between the ages of 15 to 30 were responsible for 75% of the total abortions in Bexar county. Of those women, over 35% of them were between the ages of 20 to 24, while almost 27% were between 25 to 29 years old.

Another horrendous statistic is that between 2002 to 2005, over 20% of Bexar County pregnancies ~ or one in five pre-born, innocent babies ~ were ended by abortion.

State of Texas

In the state of Texas, over 91% of abortions are performed at abortion facilities (as opposed to a doctor’s office, hospitals, etc.).

In the latest stats presented by Planned Parenthood's research arm (Guttmacher Data Center), in 2014 in Texas there were 534,000 pregnancies for women aged 15 to 44, and 11% of all pregnancies that year ended in abortion.

In 2013, there were 7,380 abortions by women in Texas aged 15 to 19 years of age. Of those, 5,260 were 18 to 19 years old; meaning the majority of abortions were chosen by teens.

United States of America *

  • Total number of abortions in the U.S. 1973-2018: 61.8 million+

  • 186 abortions per 1,000 live births (according to the Centers for Disease Control)

  • U.S. Abortions in 2017: ~862,320 (Guttmacher Institute/Planned Parenthood)

  • Abortions per day: 2362+ (GI)

  • Abortions per hour: 98+ (GI)

  • 1 abortion every 96 seconds (GI)

  • 13.5 abortions / 1000 women aged 15-44 in 2017 (GI)

Those statistics (above) include only surgical and medical abortions. Because many contraceptive measures are abortifacients (drugs that induce or cause abortions), it is important not to overlook the number of children killed by chemical abortions. Since 1965, an average of 11 million women have used abortifacient methods of birth control in the United States at any given time. Using formulas based on the way the birth control pill works, pharmacy experts project that about 14 million chemical abortions occur in the United States each year, providing a projected total of well in excess of 610 million chemical abortions between 1965 and 2009.

When conducting research on abortion statistics, you also may encounter two different sets of numbers. One set is from the Centers for Disease Control, and the other is from the Guttmacher Institute—the “independent research arm” of Planned Parenthood Federation of AmericaThe Guttmacher Institute totals are actually the more accurate since the Institute conducts private research on abortion providers throughout the country and because not all states are required to report to the CDC. In fact, California and New York, where high numbers of abortions occur, are not included in CDC figures.

Clearly, UNBORN BLACK BABY LIVES DON'T MATTER to Planned Parenthood!

And while we're on the topic, be aware that the Marxist, pro-abortion group Black Lives Matter doesn't care about unborn Black babies either, and supports their killing in the womb by abortion as well.
