I traveled from my home in the Laredo area to San Antonio with the idea of terminating my pregnancy. At twenty-four, I found myself alone on the street, homeless and pregnant. I found Allied Women's Center in the telephone directory. I wanted an abortion. When a woman at Allied showed me a video and talked with me, I decided against aborting my baby.
I am so happy that I found Allied Women's Center and not an abortion clinic. The ladies at the Allied gave me maternity clothes and lots of things for my baby. In addition, they even provided a home for me to live in. Thanks to all who volunteer at and support Allied Women's Center.
My name is Elaine and I'm 39 years old. I have a 21-year-old, twins who are 15 years old and my baby Ruby who is 7 months old. At first, I didn't want to have Ruby. Now I consider Ruby to be a blessing!
I came to the Allied Women’s Center and there I was shown a film called "Caring" and received counseling. After viewing this film I cried, because as an adult, I knew what I was doing in considering aborting my Baby, and I then knew I could not go through with it. I'm glad the Allied Women's Center was there for me.
